RAM Motorsport Collects Trophies At Sandown

A strong and consistent Porsche Carrera Cup Australia weekend at Sandown Raceway saw both RAM Motorsport drivers, Dylan O’Keeffe and Dean Cook, collect trophies.

O’Keeffe and Cook took second place for the round in their respective classes in what has traditionally been a happy hunting ground for RAM Motorsport.

In our Pro-Class entry, O’Keeffe continued his traditionally strong Porsche form at Sandown, qualifying his Dexion-backed RAM Motorsport/GWR Australia Porsche second and leading at the start of the first two races, held in wet conditions. He finished second in Race 1 and third in Race 2.

“It took a couple of laps to build tyre temperature in the first race, but at the end, I was just as fast as the winner,” O’Keeffe said.

“Race 2 was tricky – it started on a damp but drying track, but there was a shower of rain halfway through, which made it completely wet again.”

“It was a case of managing the wet tyres to make sure I still had some grip when the conditions deteriorated.”

Starting on the front row for Race 3, O’Keeffe slotted into second place which he held through to the finish, scoring second for the round and moving up to third in the championship.

“It was another good weekend in Carrera Cup, I definitely feel like it was our most competitive round of the season,”  he continued.

“I feel like we had one of the fastest cars in the field, so now it’s just a case of working on a few small details like our cold tyre performance.”

On the other side of the garage Cook was equally as consistent, finishing fourth in class for Race 1. He backed that up with second places in Race 2 and 3.

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia will be back in action in next month, racing at Mount Panorama as part of the Repco Bathurst 1000 undercard, October 10-13.
