RAM Motorsport keeps podium streak alive at Bathurst 6 Hour

The iconic Bathurst 6 Hour delivered once again and the original RAM Motorsport line up of Ryan Godfrey, Alex Bryden and Mike Sheargold was able to keep the teams podium streak in the A1 class alive, driving their Mercedes AMG A45 with a striking livery supporting the cancer fundraising charity Tour de Cure.

Challenges during practice and qualifying arising from car suspension issues saw the team start 7th in Class A1 and 27th outright. Alex reflected on the experience, saying, "This was an amazing but crazy experience, ducking and weaving 70 cars around Bathurst. I was just happy to be a part of it all. Special thanks to the crew from GWR; they didn't put a foot wrong all weekend and went above and beyond when we had a big issue with the dampers and suspension in the car."

With the suspension issues resolved, the race began strong as Mike made an immediate push to gain ground. The team employed an audacious long-stint strategy in a bid for a class victory. Fuel saving and pace was under control however tyre degradation posed a significant challenge, with delaminated tyres taking the team out of contention for the win. Despite this setback, Ryan battled fiercely in the final hour, securing an impressive 3rd in Class A1 and 15th outright.

Ryan Godfrey described the final stint as unforgettable: "Wow, what a weekend to remember. The last stint was a bit crazy. I had it all—a tyre delaminating through the chase at about 240 kph, a rogue tyre flying off a car in front of me and slamming into the door, and last but not least, a tough battle on track for the last spot on the class podium that ended up with contact at the cutting, which we fortunately were able to press on from relatively unscathed."

This podium finish marks RAM Motorsport's fourth podium success from four entries in the A45 at the Bathurst 6 Hour—a testament to the team's consistency and determination. Additionally, the event saw the team raise a further $6,000 for Tour de Cure, contributing to the fight against cancer.

Mike expressed his joy at the team's achievement: "It was great to have all three of us, who got together six years ago to have a bit of fun at a race track, finally race in the same race. To walk away with a class podium is a pinch-me moment, and to do it with a special livery in support of Tour de Cure is icing on the cake. A massive thanks to all those who donated over the weekend."
