RAM Motorsport Focused For Finale
RAM Motorsport is heading into this weekend’s GT World Challenge Australia season finale with the same focus they’ve had all season.
Despite racing at the iconic Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst and with the Am-Class title on the line, this weekend, it’ll be business as usual for drivers Micheal Sheargold and Garth Walden.
“We’re in a really good spot heading into Bathurst,” said Sheargold.
“We’ll go into the weekend much like any other race weekend this year. That’s what’s got us into this good position, so we’ll continue to do that.”
“Try not to make it a massive deal; we’ll just go into Bathurst and do what we’ve done at all the other rounds.”
“I don’t think you could ask for a better venue to wrap up the season and decide the championships. I haven’t raced there so far this year, but I have done a fair bit of racing there.”
Sheargold and Walden head into the title decider with a 25-point margin over their nearest rivals with 50 points up for grabs across the weekend’s two races.
“The goal this year has been to try and claim the Am-Class title,” Sheargold continued.
“We finished second in our first season and third last year with a few unexpected distractions. So, this year, the goal has been to complete the set.”
Sheargold didn’t compete in the Bathurst 12 Hour earlier this year, so he is really looking forward to taking on the challenge of Mount Panorama again in a GT3 car.
“Racing at the mountain is always a challenge,” he said.
“The walls, the fast-flowing corners over the top, the chase. There are so many parts of the circuit that you tackle on the limit in GT cars.”
“It always takes your breath away and is always an exciting challenge. There is no better spot to hang it all on the line.”
“I am really looking forward to getting back there for the first time this year and hopefully picking it up quickly to where we were on our previous visits to the mountain.”
GT World Challenge Australia is racing as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries Bathurst International this weekend at Mount Panorama. The round will commence with two one-hour practice sessions on Friday.
Saturday’s action will include two short, sharp, twenty-minute qualifying sessions before the first one-hour race of the weekend. Action will conclude with the final one-hour race of the season on Sunday afternoon.
The races will be broadcast on 7plus for those who can’t make it to the track, while Sunday’s race will also be broadcast on 7two.
As always, Michael would like to extend his thanks to all of RAM Motorsport’s partners and supporters, including Oilstar Racing Brake Fluid, Royal Purple, Quest Apartments, Dexion Victoria, Alex Bryden Architecture, Ready Set Redline, Omologato Watches, Purfit covers and Kase Building & Restoration Group.
