Weekend Wrap – NSW SuperSports Round 2
Saturday morning qualifying was delayed as thick fog hung over the track at Wakefield Park. When action commenced it was still very cold and slippery, especially on slicks. It took 8 laps to get the tyres up to temp but grip was still very limited however Ryan set a qualifying time that was good enough for 2nd in class.
Race 1
Ryan got away cleanly and was putting down consistent clean laps in second position in class however with 2 laps to go the paddle shifter cable came loose and the car was stuck in 3rd gear. We limped home in 3rd gear and finished 13th overall.
Race 2
Having a bad finish in race 1 left a lot of work and passing practice on the cards for race 2. Starting 13th and keeping his nose clean, with numerous cars spinning off track before turn 2 off the start, Ryan bought his Radical home in 8th Place.
Race 3
Always good to end a race weekend on a high and Ryan managed to do just that finishing 2nd in class after some good old door to door action and some great tight close racing.
Big thanks to Joey Mawson for all the knowledge and coaching. And to all the SuperSport NSW competitors and everyone making this possible. Looking forward to round 3 at SMSP in June
