WEEKEND WRAP – PRODSPORTS NSW RD1
In Q1 Mike started off strong getting within a few tenths of a PB on his best flyer to come in P4. A short turnaround and a fresh set of tyres for Q2 helped set up a solid run and shave 8 tenths of his PB but still came in P4 as most of the competition also found some more time.
In Race 1 didn't get the best of starts but better than the car next to us which stalled so was running in P3 for the opening few laps and sticking with the front battle pack. Mike was fighting with a bit of oversteer and eventually one moment got the better of him and a spin dropped us down to P7. Was able to gather it back up and pass a few lower class cars before the flag to finish in P5.
Before Race 2 we made a few setup changes to dial back the oversteer but another average start saw us drop to P5. Managed to stay within a few seconds of the cars in front and then a spin and bumpy ride over the kerb for the car ahead gifted us P4 but also brought out the safety car which was out for much of the race. Once the race got back underway we couldn't translate the one lap pace found in qualifying to better race pace and challenge the top 3 for a podium finish so P4 was where we finished.
Lot's of learning and goals to work on for the next hit out. Thanks to Ben from GWR Australia for his wicked work on the spanners & Joey Mawson for helping us eke out some extra pace!
