Dylan O’Keeffe & RAM Motorsport Return To Carrera Cup Podium
Dylan O’Keeffe has returned to the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia podium, driving his RAM Motorsport/GWR Australia Porsche 992 Cup car to a season-best result of second overall in Round 4 of the series at Sydney Motorsport Park over the weekend.
O’Keeffe qualified second, before recording results of second, fourth and second to secure the runner-up spot for the weekend and move up to fourth in the series standings.
“We were confident coming into the Sydney Motorsport Park weekend, because it’s the local circuit for my GWR team and I’ve had some good results there in the past,” O’Keeffe said.
“As soon as we rolled the car out of the truck, it was in the window and I knew we were on for a good weekend.
“Practice and qualifying went well, and the first race under lights was pretty straightforward – I just stayed in second and pulled away from the cars behind.
“In Race 2, we ran lower tyre pressures thinking the car would come on more strongly towards the end of the race, but unfortunately the tyres never really switched on and I lost a couple of spots.
“The car was much better in Race 3 and I was again able to finish second.”
Overall, O’Keeffe felt it was his and the team’s most complete performance of the season.
“The minor Race 2 mishap aside, the car was on the money all weekend and we banked plenty of points,” he said.
“Next up, we head to Sandown where I won the round last year, so it’s good to head there with some momentum on our side.”
Round 5 of the Carrera Cup will be held at Sandown, 13-15 September.
